MR X-DIVISION 2009
MR Paintball Events is pleased to announce the return of our exciting game format to our series for 2009.  We are responding to the overwhelming positive response that we received from players that participated in our XBALL events in the past 2 years 2007.  Teams have enjoyed our fresh ideas and our trailblazing format.  Top leagues in the USA and Europe have switched to a very similar style of game that we have used for 3 years now.
XBALL is an awesome format; it does have drawbacks however.  Teams shoot a considerably higher quantity of paintballs, you need a much larger roster, and in many leagues, you just don’t get to play enough games over the course of the season. To compensate for the higher paint quintiles often teams must sacrifice a prize package in order to play any multi-point format. All these points have been addressed, and solved with our format. 

The “MR X-DIVISION” will use a form of XBALL that is used in the CPL in Europe and for the 2008 PSP season.  We have made a few changes, to make the format even better.  This guarantees each and every player more paintball then you have EVER played. 
The Game

  • Games will be won when the first team reaches a score of 7 points
  • Or after 15 mins of actual game play has expired.  Highest scoring team wins
  • If teams are tied.  A sudden death overtime of one point will be played. 
  • The game clock will stop each and every point. 
  • Teams will switch sides every 4th point. 
  • There will be 2 minutes between each point, for players to reload, and air up. 
  • 5 Players on the field at once
  • 7 Players MAX per Match
  • Teams may roster 10 players per event. Only 7 may play in each match
  • No timed penalties – (1for1 - 2for1 - 3for1 will be used)
  • In addition the team will play short for the next point(s).
  • (1 point 1for1, 2points 2for1, and 3 points 3for1)

The Event/Season Format
We will use a bit of a new feature for 2009.  We will effort to have 8 franchise teams, committed to play all 4 events.  In addition we are going to hold 2 spots at each event for “Wild Card” teams.  Depending on demand, these spaces will be filled by teams wanting a taste of the X-Division.  They will also be filled by teams playing in the new BCX-Division run at the BCPPL series.

If 10 teams attend (8 Franchise Teams and 2 Wild Card teams) the teams will be split into 2 draws of 5.  Each team will play 4 games in their draw.  2 points will be awarded for each win, one point for an overtime loss, and zero points for a regulation loss.  The top two teams in each draw will qualify for the finals.  1st place will play 4th place and 2nd place will play 3rd place.  The winners will play for 1st and 2nd; the losers will play for 3rd.  Ties will broken using head to head games or with point difference.
If 8 teams attend, each team will play 5 games.  Teams will be ranked and play teams according to seeding.  The top 4 teams will advance to the playoffs.  1st place will play 4th place and 2nd place will play 3rd place.  The winners will play for 1st and 2nd; the losers will play for 3rd.  Ties will broken using head to head games or with point difference.

Entry Fees
X-Division teams will pay $800 per event.  Or teams may choose to pay $3000 for the entire.  If a team does prepay they will receive 10 free jerseys.  There will be no restrictions on sponsor logos.  However all players must wear the same jersey design.  Teams may use the XDIV template for design, or use their own design.

Paintballs
$80 Per Case 2000 paintballs.

Prizes
All cash prizes will be paid at each and every event.  A trophy will be awarded to the overall winner at the end of the season.  There will be no series prize.
OVER $5,000 cash at EVERY EVENT!!!!  (Based on a MIN 8 teams)

Field layouts
For 2009 The X-Division will have custom designed SUP’AIR layouts.

Divisions
The MR X-Division is totally open; any player may play in this league.  You will not lose your D3 status if you play in this league.  The only exception is any player that plays on any team that qualifies for the finals at any event.  This player will now be considered D1.  1 PRO player per team may play in the MR X-Division.

Teams
What teams will be playing?  8 teams will be invited to join the league.  If after these teams there is space remaining we will open the league to the public until all 8 spots are full.
